This is a rumour on the web and I've just heard it on Talk Sport so it is getting a mention, but can you see Manchester City selling a defender a day before the season starts?

I can't see it myself, but you never know and he is a very decent central defender.

He started his career at Everton before moving to Manchester City in 2000 and at 29 years old he still has a few seasons left in him, but I think I'd like to see Cueller and Davies get a chance and I suspect they will tomorrow.

It is a rumour, so take it as just that for now but if it changes we will update this page.

Of course, it may be that O'Neill forced Davies to forgo the surgery, but either way, it's abysmal management. I suspect the truth is that O'Neill was simply hoping that things worked out for the best and that, somehow, Davies' shoulder wouldn't 'pop out', and that he'd be able to perform with no regard for his injury whatsoever. What is unfathomable is that, despite Davies' performances clearly demonstrating the folly of this thinking, O'Neill failed to learn from experience and have Davies booked in for the operation the day after the season ended.
