Aston Villa at Swansea: I have no idea what is going to happen

The one thing I do know is that if we lose this match supporters will be calling for Paul Lambert to go before he can inflict any more problems on us in the January transfer window and you know what, if we lose today, they might be right.

It might also be the best thing. It might not be the right thing to do but we might never know unless it happens and as things stand, we can be relegated.

Anyway, that is another post, right now we have to look forward and be positive. Paul Lambert will revert to a back four today which means some changes, but hopefully for the good. Chances are that he will also drop Weimann or play him in a more midfield role.

Formation matters

I say this because 442 isn't the future either. We need to play a variation of 451 and while that can actually be 442 when attacking, it's more effective and easier if it turns to 433, so if Weimann is to play, he has to line up as a midfielder and he is going to have to put a shift in.

But is there an argument for Weimann to play as the main striker and put Benteke on the bench? Think about it between now and kick off, because Swansea kicks off in five hours, but we'll be back before then with team news and any updates.

Transfer window opens

If Lambert does keep his job the transfer window opens today and even if he doesn't, we sort of all know what we need so keep your fingers crossed that it comes.

If you wanted my opinion, we need two players, both coming in on a loan deal until the end of the season or on a big pay day last contract and we're going to have to pay big to get them. You might think it a bit drastic, but I'm fairly worried that with this manager or not, we could be relegated this season because we don't have the experience to get us out of this mess.

That could all change, as long as Lambert does, but it's entirely possible that he is out of his depth.

And I nearly forgot; happy new year!

The players

Guzan, Lowton, Clark, Bennett, Herd, Weimann, Delph, Stevens, Westwood, Benteke and Albrighton all start. On the bench we have Given, Ireland, Holman, Bowery, Bannan, Lichaj (according to the official Twitter feed from the club and I put this in because that is only six).
