Burnley live, Santa Cruz and in from the cold

It's Burnley later and it is going to be a cracker so get to Villa Park if you can and if you can't get back here for as many updates as we can bring you in a ninety minute period.

There will be links, team news, updates and more; here and on Twitter. And it is going to be a good game and I really do think we will win.

But that is for later and we will add updates on this page but there is some speculation this morning and it involves Manchester City striker Santa Cruz and apparently there is interest.

This isn't going to happen - Santa Cruz had a good first season at Blackburn, much like a lot of players have a good first season when arriving in this country and much like some teams have a good first season when arriving in the Premier League.

But, since that first season, he hasn't really delivered and rather than commenting in the press about how unhappy he is at his current club, which leads to this speculation, he should just be happy with what he has. Santa Cruz won't happen because he isn't good enough.

In from the cold

I read something this morning that Nigel Reo-Coker will be sitting down soon to discuss a new contract and it's a good decision, but he isn't coming in from the cold - he was never out in the cold. The problem Nigel Reo-Coker had and many other players, was with the previous manager.

I don't think he was ever in the cold as far as everyone else at Villa Park was concerned and now he is putting in performances that justify all the talk about a new contract. I hope he gets one and I hope he sees that it was only one person that made his time at Villa Park difficult and that that man is now likely to be managing a team that would struggle in the third tier of English football.

Burnley live

So, like I said, team news, links and banter coming up later but expect a tough match and don't be surprised if Burnley want this more and give it everything for 90 minutes.

Also, don't be surprised if we get Manchester United in the next round - if we win tonight.

Update: Team News

Friedel, Lichaj, Cuellar, Clark, Beye, Sidwell, Albrighton, Captain-Coker, Bannan, Young and Carew.

On the bench: Guzan, Downing, Ireland, Collins, Hogg, Delfouneso and Heskey.

Update

Carew is not well so Stephen Ireland replaces him in the starting line up.
