Aston Villa fail to kill off ten man Manchester United

This is a news post and as such I will not go into it as much as I will tomorrow but if I were to guess, I´d say we had one shot on target in the second half and when you are playing against ten men, that isn´t good enough.

However, I thought we would draw tonight and put a tenner on it at 12/5 and if it were offered to us at the start of the night, I think we would have all taken it, so on that note, I suppose we must be happy.

A lobbed header from King Carlos from 15 yards put us into the lead but an own goal from James Collins a few minutes later made it 1-1. I have to say also, that the own goal had nothing to do with Collins - he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just in case anyone thinks it was a mistake by the player.

But to the turning point of the game; Manchester United were reduced to ten men after about half an hour and while most would have then expected us to do something, we didn´t.

For most of the second half we looked like the team with ten men. We were rarely in their final third and we were often defending. I know some will disagree, but I think it just goes to show that we are not very capable at attacking teams. I don´t think we work on how to do it, I really don´t.

Anyway, we will look at the stats tomorrow and there is some good news; Nani, who was sent off for a two footed lunge on Petrov will now miss the League Cup Final.

I am off to have a beer but I should say, once again, it was a point we would have all taken at the start of the game, so I suppose, we should be happy with the result, if not the performance.

Oh and before I go, Spurs lost to Wolves and it looks like Arsenal are going to beat Liverpool so we are still 7th with a game in hand and two points off fourth.
