Considering we were 2-1 with just a few minutes to go, to finish the match 2-2 is a good result. However, the replay comes on February 24th and that really isn´t good news.
You see, on the Sunday after that Wednesday we have an important match at Wembley and well, you sort of want your players rested and they won´t be now.
But, we are still in the FA Cup and given the choice of in it or not at the beginning of the day, we would have all taken ´in it´ and it is another opportunity for us.
Now, to the match and did we deserve to win today? Simple answer is no. The truth is, on chances, this is probably the right result and had Palace stolen it, they would have deserved it.
But they didn´t because Ginger Jim (James Collins) and Stan the Man (Stiliyan Petrov) scored for us, but we were chasing the game today, it wasn´t the other way round.
So, to the replay on February 24th but the draw is coming up later and I fancy the draw will determine what type of team O´Neill puts out for the replay.
I also fancy O´Neill is going to keep Webcam back for some work on his crossing this week, work on his corners and work on what not to do when you have the ball and there is nobody in the box.

... Think he needs a word with downing and warncock. Please start with fonz. We looked so much more like scoring! He actually runs and makes spaces, unlike big Carew! |

... vital loans should be in a few minutes.... tough game...didnt deserve to win but i suppose we did enough to deserve a draw...both goals from set pieces, nice to see that again.. our first team will crush them at villa park, but i cant see the first team playing with the final so close... nice to be in the hat though...and still in for the cup |

... I think fairly young goalscorer Swede Toivonen in PSV can be the solution for MON this summer. Because we need more goals, and easy ones too. |

... Didn't get Blues, might have the Baggies though? Of course we're not guarenteed to beat Palace at Villa Park if we don't improve... |

... 87 crosses today for ashley young - did any go to a villa player; including corners? |

... id say another good draw...a choice of two championship sides...although we would be on the road again...maybe a close to full strength squad for that one |

... Damian Off the top of my head I'd say the absolute peach he put on Carew's head when their keeper pulled off a cracking save. Also, Re. what not to do when no one else is in the box... well, I'd say there aren't many other players in our team wo'd have gambled and chased that ball in the first place and he managed to send a pretty dangerous ball across goal that only needed a touch (and not necessarilly from a Villa player) when he was fast running out of pitch. |

... first half young put in 4 cracking balls one right across the floor which we won a corner off, one that dropped between keeper and defence which no1 gambled on, one where heskey headed over (should have scored) and one where petrov clipped his header just wide. FA Cup games away from home against lower opposition aren't always easy. It was important not to lose today, because we need a good run before Wembley. If you're looking at performances, although he got two assists, downing was awful, as was delph. |

... Gardner so - 1 good cross and he was playing for an own goal. fantastic how many poor crosses/corners? when you are a winger and that is your job and that is all you serve up, surely you must see there is a problem? |

... i thought you'd ignore the 'off the top of my head' part of my comment. Good going. I don't see the problem of fizzing a ball across goal when you're the only Villa player anywhere near the box when you've got a few Palace players closing you down. I also remember the ball early on, when it just got away from Hesky, Milner and... I can't remember, Downing maybe? Not to mention several reverse balls to Warnock, enabling him to whip a few dangerous crosses in. I'm not saying Young is perfect, and yeah there were a few wayward crosses (i'd definitely consider taking him off corners) but I think you need to be called out for singling him out for criticism today over the rest of the team. Especially when you just exagerrate '87 crosses and none of them found a Villa man' and don't actually provide specific examples. |

... Some things established from that game:- # Milner, Downing and Young need excessive work on passing and crossing. # Delfouneso reallys need a start soon, he looked eager to do something whereas Carew and Heskey aren't up to it lately. # Friedel needs to work on commanding crosses # Put a bid in for Ambrose? Been a long while since we even looked close to threatening from freekicks |

... warnock got the cheek to moan about the linesman for our 2 goal after giving a corner instead of a goalkick what about the 3 offsides we got given when our players were not espeasally del boys which he was 5 yards onside and would have been 1 on 1with there keeper justice was done in my eyes |
