Aston Villa score but lose: Aston Villa 1 Chelsea 2

Before I get into this; did anyone expect a win today? In truth, most probably expected defeat so we shouldn't be that disappointed. In fact, accepting we got what most thought would happen is probably a good place to leave this post, but we got more than expected.

And when I say we got more than expected, I mean the football not the goal, although the goal was very welcome. We actually played a lot better today and it's fair to say that if we played like this at home for the rest of the season, we should get the results we need, especially when you consider who we have to play at Villa Park.

Towards the end of the first half we started to look very good and it was all going through Carles Gil. In the second half, we started how we ended the first and again, it was all going through Gil. But in fairness some very good defending kept us in it.

But I can't help but think it was because of who we were playing and that when we are playing the likes of Leicester, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea, QPR, Everton, West Ham and Burnley at Villa Park, we wont play this way because none of those sides are a big side. But I hope I'm wrong.

I hope I'm wrong because even though we didn't win today it wasn't all bad. We didn't role over and we did on a few occasions look better than we have this season and Chelsea are a tough side to do that against.

And for the record, the goal came from Okore and yes, we're Aston Villa, we score when we want.
