Manchester City after Ashley Young, squad announced for Spain and Distin

Martin O´Neill mentioned Thursday earlier this week. Could today be the day that we announce another player coming? If it is, I fancy it will be Distin but paper talk this morning suggests that Liverpool are also interested.

It is just speculation but Distin, according to speculation, was keen on coming to Villa last week and I wouldn´t be surprised if he still was and if the paper talk was exactly that, just paper talk.

In other paper talk this morning, Manchester City are apparently interested in taking Ashley Young from us. Now, the papers can write what they want and Mark Hughes would surely be interested in Young, but I just can´t see him going there, so we will leave that where it belongs.

I will just say that I can only see players going to Manchester City for the money and basically, I don´t think that is what interests Young at this stage of his career and he is already on a fairly decent wedge with us, not that what Manchester City can offer wouldn´t be a lot more, but there is more to Young than just cash.

Almost finished for this morning, although I am hoping for something this afternoon, but we have announced the squad to play in the Peace cup in Spain.

It is pretty much every player we could name, including Bouma and I´m hoping he plays, it would be great to have him back at left back.

Squad for Peace Cup

Brad Friedel, Brad Guzan, Elliot Parish, Marc Albrighton, Barry Bannan, John Carew, Ciaran Clark, Carlos Cuellar, Curtis Davies, Marlon Harewood, Chris Herd, Emile Heskey, Zat Knight, Eric Lichaj, Shane Lowry, Isaiah Osbourne, Stiliyan Petrov, Nigel Reo-Coker, Moustapha Salifou, Nicky Shorey, Steve Sidwell, Ashley Young, Luke Young, Jonathan Hogg, Wilfred Bouma, Andreas Weimann.

Right, I´m off to the shops. Will there be a signing today? I hope so, we are getting closer to the season starting and we are in desperate need!
