McCormack signs, exit must finally be near for Gabby

Ross McCormack has signed for Aston Villa and he could be exactly what we need to push for promotion this season. How do I know that he might be that player, it's because he scores goals in the Championship.

He's played 303 matches in the Championship for Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham. And in those 303 matches he scored 116 goals. That's a goal every 2.61 games and we haven't had a goal scorer with those stats for a long time.

It's also worth pointing out that he's never played in a team that has won promotion, he'll be 30 in a couple of weeks and in four of the 9 seasons he has played in the Championship he hasn't reached double figures.

Is it a gamble, yes. But all players are a gamble but you could argue, very easily, that we needed someone to score goals and now we have someone that has done it, five out of the last nine seasons.

There is a part of me though that wishes very deeply that this is the last new player. That same part of me is the one that knows too many changes causes disruption and that it would be quite nice to have a manager that could work with what he has rather than thinking we need to make changes.

I know, it's naive of me to think that a manager shouldn't be able to bring in new players every transfer window and that if we don't get five or six, we're not really playing the game. I mean, who is to say that if you keep the same group and maybe add one or two to strengthen that things wouldn't get better? Madness, I know.

Anyway, that's it for today. Lets hope McCormack is the one because a lot of people think he is. And surely this means that Gabby can now go?
