New Aston Villa kit

The new Aston Villa kit for the new season has now been launched and you can see it below and probably order it from Kitbag here. If you order though, you should be aware that you won't get it until next month, but you will be one of the first to get it.

Now, the shirt is a shirt and well, it's nice, but it is only a shirt. We should however be very happy we haven't ended up with what West Ham have ended up with this season although I should also say I really do quite like what Burnley have come up with and I'd probably sway what we have done for that, but it's a nice shirt, but still it's just a shirt.

As you can probably tell, I've not got much to say on the shirt, but seeing as we are talking about the shirt and because the club site/media department don't get much praise from me, I should take this opportunity to offer up a little.

The Bullring to Bullring blog and videos on the club site have been surprisingly good and it is nice to see that they are trying new things. It would be nicer if they continued the video blogging and a few other new things during the season and even nicer if they moved away from the Premium TV platform, but I'll take the small steps for now.

Anyway, the new kit is below and like I said, you can probably pre-order from Kitbag here.

its never had the star over the badge, we are only allowed the star over the badge if we are competing in the champions league. (although england can have the star over there badge when they are competing in the european championships???)

in the forum, the man from australia who said he saw the shirt last week seems to have got it spot on.

Because its a way to make easy money for little effort. I thought they were only supposed to bring a new kit out every 2 years by staggering the home and away kits! you cant get much lazier than just changing the collar and putting a strange stripe down the shoulder.

I'll still end up buying it though

I think it's dead nice. Simplicity is key, especially when done by somebody like Nike I reckon. Claret with blue sleevs is easily the best way to do it, so not sure how it could have been much better? I'm also a big supporter of roundnecks over v necks.

Good.

Bit disapointed, been waiting ages for this.I could wear last seasons and no-one will know the difference....Be nice to have a bit of a change, bit of imagination and a bit more blue and less claret for a change. nevermind....the away kit is really nice, and the training range..Nike...pull your finger out, the home kit is supposed to be our pride and joy, but the training kits even knock spots of it. Well theres always next year or 2011

but like it was said...its only a shirt...let all the goodness happen on the pitch...

Friedel looks like he'll be well camouflaged against the pitch. Perhaps he'll just lie down on the grass and wait for them to shoot (thinking it's an open goal) and then whoosh! he pops up and grabs the ball to everyone's suprise.

Following that thought... what if they all wore green?! They could pass it around and it would look to the opposition like they were playing against an invisible team and (not that you'd need a further advantage) they could hang out offside all they liked.

If there's anyone reading from the kit designing team - feel free to take this idea for next year.

Love you all - you doubters and moaners - you optimists and believers - frustrated and anxious - eager as beavers - for the new season to start - and what will unfold - maybe the greatest Villa story - ever to be told.

The problem is with the colours and the tradition of the shirt that Villa have, its difficult for the sportswear companies to come up with designs that both look modern, historical and smart at the same time. The away kit allows you to do that, but Villa's home strip has never really changed apart from the few years we had with stripes (which IIRC most people were glad to do away with).

I can't believe what a bunch of moaners most of the posters are. You are all moaning that they haven't changed the kit enough, but then if they had changed it radically you would also be moaning. What is there that you can really do with a claret body and blue sleeves? Would you rather have a radical change and go back to the striped kit of 1994? How about the all claret (or purple as it was) number from 1998ish? I wonder what the club can actually do to please some of you.

It is onlt a kit, notmuch different from last year and not sure about the stripe on the shoulder but as stated it is only a shirt to play footy in.

Im not fussed about the new shirt its claret with blue sleeves with a Villa badge. Must admit to liking Burnleys better as its more retro looking with the V collar. I will no doubt buy it fat git as I am so I can break sweat cutting the grass or having another crippling panic attack which means I can't go down V P for fear of big crowds so the only way I got of supporting my team is by wearing the shirt, pity they weren't all the rage back in the day when I went to places like Rotherham in the old 3rd division. It was just scarves and hats then (yellow and blue on away days). So all you moaning people on here when you're down the game this sad old sack is stuck in front of the tv radio or computer not by choice either. Last game Juventus European Cup 83, lost 2-1 wish I could go again sorry for the rant but its only a shirt

I don't think the club is making anyone pay for anything. Your choice, buy it or not. As someone else said, since it's not a big departure, there's less incentive to buy it, isn't there? Should actually take the pressure off parents.

Kids are still going to want the new strip all the same mate!! Thats why it pisses us parents off that it is no different from last years!!

Dunno how it works in your house, but in mine, it's a simple question to the kids if I don't see the value: "Is it worth it for you to spend your money on it?" Usually the answer is no. Saves a lot of trouble and wasted money. If they still want it and they don't have the money, then they can earn it by doing more chores. And I'm not pissed in the slightest.

Never signed anything leaving the hospital with either of them that said, "I hereby promise to buy new kit every year whether it's shite or not."

Once again Villa have a better Clare & Blue shirt than ours... in fact it's been every season since 2002-03!! Well done Nike for realising that this is the season of the retro design - England, Man United, Everton, Burnley, Man City and now Aston Villa.....these are all smart kits. West Ham's is a shit piece of table cloth and someone needs to remind Umbro that our colours are Claret and Blue!!

What part is nonsensical? You're the one who said you're pissed off because your kids are going to want it all the same.

The point is that is no one has to buy the kit. That sounds rather sensible, if not downright factual, and is something with which you apparently agree.

Kids are still going to want the new strip all the same mate!! Thats why it pisses us parents off that it is no different from last years!!

If you need help in dealing with your children's disappointments, I have it on good authority there's an advice columnist you might want to consult.

Seems to me like the club are doing us a big favor, The club is under contract to Nike to bring out a kit every year for the first 3 or 4 years so they have made it pretty much the same so we would not feel we need to buy the new one thus saving us 45 quid.

So fair play to the club if you ask me, looking out for us again, any thoughts on my take on the matter?

must say the away shirt is shocking best away shirt has to be the le coq sportif white with claret pin strips (still have mine from rotterdam mind you it does not fit anymore!)
home shirt is not bad when you consider that a few years ago we had iron on arrows down the sides that peeled of after a few washes! anyway forget the shirt get some quality to wear it!!!

Well, its a shirt so it doesn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things.

BUT, it looks like someone from Nike knocked it up in their 5 minute fag break- its the same f*cking shirt as last season minus the collar and a stripe on the shoulder (which looks sh*t btw).

Well, I've got the away shirt (which is a quality bit of kit) so I'm not too bothered, and we can play in mustard and green for all I care as long as we get 3 pointssmilies/grin.gif

It strikes me that the club have shot themselves in the foot somewhat by making the shirt so similar.
I'm gutted because I gave my last shirt to a barkeeper in Cyprus so he can stick it on his wall. My assumption was that the new one would be different.
I certainly wouldn't have bothered getting a new one otherwise.
At the end of the day it is only a shirt, but it's in our colours and has the badge, so I'll be buying it.

Where this "tight manager" rubbish comes from I'll never know.

Do people seriously think MON would hold back on the dough?
MON works under certain constraints and as such has to be careful.

What happens if MON signs a player for £20 mill and he turns out to be total rubbish? The same people calling for these players would be the first to moan, saying "what a waste of money". He just won't make that sort of mistake and rightly so imo.

Typical example?
Pavlyuchenko. Cost £13 mill and reportedly offered to Arsenal for £6 mill. PMSL smilies/cheesy.gif

Even Zat Knight (who's regularly slated on here for being rubbish) is rumoured to be going to Bolton for a nice little profit.

Oh dear...do we still not undestand Kohoutek...I do beg my pardon but I will for the last time explain to you what I mean in Idiot`s terms. Villa fans look forward to the seasons new kit. A lot of Villa fans do want to buy the new kit, as do their children. Villa fans see kit is very similiar to last seasons and are disappointed. You say well you dont have to buy it then. Nobodies forcing you to buy it. You sound very sinical, and with your viewpoint there is no reason for a debate. Are you the kit designer in disguise Kohoutekand upset because people dont like your kit little man. It is not a point of having to buy the kit or not, like you said before we aren`t being forced, but it`s the simple fact that you are even basing your argument on this that I´m worried. We can carry on forever but there is no denying that your a bit of a w****r really, who is just on here to piss people off. Now that you stand corrected I suggest you xxxx off.
