Rapid Vienna 1 Aston Villa 0: We are not out, but it might not be long

When I read the team for tonight, I was quite happy. I'm actually still happy with the performance from the team that started, it was when Martin O'Neill brought on Gabby and took off Gardner and we went to 4-4-2 that it fell away for me.

Yes, I am directly questioning the manager and the irony is we had our best moment of the game with Ashley Young on the right and James Milner on the left.

Basically, I didn't see anything tonight apart from the when we were playing with 4-5-1 and we tried to keep the ball and tried to pass, that made me think we had a chance for Monday night. I honestly wonder what O'Neill actually does in training because I'm not really seeing any development, only different players.

we saw some better football last season when we played 4-5-1 but apart from that, even tonight, when we went back to 4-4-2, we started to hit longer balls, we lost the midfield battle and after about fifteen minutes, they started to get much more involved in the game.

But, we do have them at home next week and they will want to progress and if they played like they did tonight they will, but things can change between now and next Thursday and we might be Liverpool 4-0 playing 4-5-1 and be ready for this lot, but I've got a horrible feeling our European journey is going to come to an end soon.

Before I go, talk is Distin is a done deal. Don't shoot me though if it isn't, it's just talk for now.
