Roll on sunday! I remember the Deano goal against the scum in the cup, He wasnt off side, the only 1 in the scum half of the pitch was the keeper when the ball went threw, so just shoddy defending. Can we have some more of that please, even tho we dont need it. And it cost £8 in the holte that night, how things have changed.:([img][/img] - hipkissvilla

I actually remember Yorke comming back with Sunderland and getting a good reception, not a single boo, so I think it is all water under the bridge now. - The Mighty Steve

Grimo Tokyo - regardless of how decent a man he is we're certainly entitled to have an opinion on him as a player regardless of how many words you write or how much you copy and paste - Dave

I think its going to be tighter than is comfortable to be honest with you. They seem to have tightened up this season - they certainly aren't shipping a bagfull of goals.

I predict a 1-0 win. And it could go either way. - DavidC

I really think you should install a code of conduct on this site. Heskey has been admired by several managers *more knowledgable than all of us*, and it is short-sighted to believe that the players do not/will not access this moronic, ill-considered tripe that poses for constructive criticism on this site.

If you created a code to weed out unwarranted obscenity, that would be a step forward. Criticism, yes: but not kneejerk nonsense.

Heskey is a good man - just listen to his honest comments in an article in The Guardian, commenting on the effectiveness of him at Villa, and in comparison with Defoe.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/07/jermain-defoe-emile-heskey-england-croatia

Heskey's role in the side has long been considered more as a focal point for the front line than that of a goalscorer, yet the player himself admitted Defoe's recent form for club and country could not be ignored as England attempt to secure passage to South Africa.

"I couldn't complain [if Defoe was selected to partner Wayne Rooney instead]," said the striker. "Jermain has done brilliantly. Every time he comes on he scores a goal, which is nice to see. He's scored seven goals in six games this season, so you can't complain. Those are the statistics, and he's never complained when he's not played for England, either.

"We're in competition, but it's good competition. It puts you on your toes knowing you've got to do well to stay in the team. I like to play as the one man up front, but Jermain likes that role as well. We all do. We've got other strikers here as well – Peter Crouch, Carlton Cole – and it's good to have these options. For me personally, it's nice to be involved because I'm still finding my feet at Villa.

Heskey's continued involvement could be questioned given his inability, as yet, to make a notable impact at Villa Park since his £3.5m move from Wigan in January though his muscular presence, selfless attitude and ability to occupy centre-halves, thereby freeing up space for Rooney, has established him as first-choice for Capello."

A good man - an honest, thoughtful man - who doesn't deserve to be called 'utterly useless'. Ridiculous. - Grimo Tokyo

B30, you reckon? I took my daughter to football in Stirchley and there 5 or 6 Villa fans for 1 Blues fan (plenty Man U and Liverpol as well). You see more Villa shirts around and I meet more Villa fans around as well. Perhaps you mix in the wrong circles!?! - Martin Clabon

Viva, I'm not his biggest fan but that is way too tough an assessment. Jon Carew's had plenty of bad games for us. Heskey has done well in some games and hasn't reaaly had that many games for us. Any way, looks like he is no more than back up now. - Martin Clabon

Monkey, was in Bournville till a couple of years ago, Beaumont Rd. No pubs is the only downside.

B30, I know a season ticket holder for Blues who reckons Stirchley is all blues, South Birmingham. Load of crap, more Villa round here than Blues by miles. - Martin Clabon

Heskey is utterly useless. I seriously think Capello has lot the plot when it comes to picking his strikers. There used to be a case that he holds the ball up well, but to be honest, he doesn't even do that. There are no advantages to having him on the pitch at all. All he does is occupy space. He plays like a centre back who's been put up front. No clue.

The last 3 games I've watched him play for England he's been just as ineffectual as he has been for us. I just cannot understand why he's playing at this level at all. - Mike Carter
