Palace at the weekend, some positive energy and dancing the light fandango
What a time to be an Aston Villa fan.
I'm starting positively, because the post I was going to publish didn't and I didn't feel great about it and it was driven by some supporters after we lost to Liverpool last time out. I mean, we really should have won and I too was a little angry.
But some of the tweets and comments I saw actually made me angry. And all that happened was we lost to Liverpool. We're still above Manchester United and Chelsea after four games and I can't believe I'm writing any of this, because it is just four games. It used to be when I was a lad that they didn't publish the League table until six games, but I'm showing my age now.
It's so early, we have nothing to be worried about. We will finish better than we did last season and as things stand right now we have an opportunity in three tournaments. Things really couldn't get much better right now.
And that leads me very nicely to Crystal Palace at the weekend. And we have some early stats to look at.

Aston Villa have lost just one of their 11 Premier League home games against Crystal Palace (W6 D4), going down 1-0 in December 2013.
The Villans are looking to avoid losing successive Premier League games under Unai Emery for only the third time, previously doing so in February and May 2023.
Crystal Palace have one win and one draw away from home in the Premier League so far this season. They have they not remained unbeaten in their first three away league games of a campaign since 2003-04 in the second tier, while they last did so in the top-flight in 1994-95.
Odsonne Edouard has scored three of Crystal Palace’s five Premier League goals this season and he has now scored four in his last six games in the competition, as many as in his previous 42 Premier League appearances.
Me, I'm going to head off for an early drink. It's been a long day and it's going to be a long night. Until tomorrow morning, I'm going to dance the light fandango or something like that.
