Summer nearly over and silly season about to start for Aston Villa and England

So, it’s almost here but before we get to Aston Villa, I can’t not write a post and mention England. After the first match the media were all over the national side, but after the match the night before this one or maybe the night before the night before depending on when this gets posted, you’d think they lost.

Yes, Harry Kane dived and got caught but he saved the side and won the match. And every match at this stage of the tournament is going to be tough. Maybe not for everyone, but you don’t get to the final without tough matches and it’s all about winning. And the dive, well that’s just what players do these days (and Harry has a history) but you’d think these players would have unlearnt by now that this would have got checked had the referee not seen it.

And you know what, dive or not it doesn’t matter. They’re in the final 16 and anything can happen now, I might even stay up to watch the Mexico match.

But now it’s time for Aston Villa and well, there isn’t much happening. There are changes in the coaching team and that’s a good thing I think. It will keep things fresh and the best managers like to keep things fresh.

There are also stories about interest in our players from other clubs. If you believe what you read on social media, Arsenal want a couple and Chelsea are also sniffing around. I’d swap Rogers for Palmer if Chelsea were interested. But only if Rogers wants to leave, I’d prefer him to stay.

And there are rumours that Lucas Bergvall wants out of Spurs and could there be interest from Unai Emery? I’d absolutely love him at Villa Park. But that’s just me.

Anyway, has anything else happened? Have we brought anyone in or has anyone really left? I’ve been busy of late and as you might have noticed we have a new site design. It’s also a new underlying platform. Everything is getting served up without a database, so it should be faster and easier for me to manage and hopefully the issues some had with Chrome on Android will have be fixed.
