Youri leaves for United, rumours of Digne leaving too and maybe a Swiss player joining

So, what a day. Youri Tielemans has left Aston Villa for Manchester United for what is believed to be £35mn. That is quite a nice return for a player that cost nothing and is 29 years old.

I’m not just writing that because he’s left and I’m not bitter. Youri has done it in a professional manner and gave nothing but what looked like 100% for us. He is joining a side that some are placing bets the manager is getting sacked by January though.

And this is possibly his last big payday and Manchester United can afford to pay much more than us and he’s probably worth it. I’m actually, in a weird way, happy for him and happy that we had him and that he played such an important role for us last season in winning silverware.

But it’s never nice to see your best players leave and he was one of them. There are also rumours that Digne is wanted by PSG, again through a buy out clause and let’s be clear, that will be another loss if it happens. Digne is a great defender and has done well for us.

If it happens it happens but I have every faith in Unai Emery and his team to get the replacements in they feel are necessary.

Seeing as I’m speculating, I should also share that there is speculation we are about to hijack the transfer of Johan Manzambi to Newcastle for a reported £50mn. If true and I have to write this, it’s a bit of a gamble for a 20 year old from the German league.

That said, it’s not my money and like I wrote above, I have every faith in Unai and his team.

With that written we wait for more news. With Digne about to end his World Cup campaign, I suspect we’ll hear quite soon if that move to PSG is on and I suspect we’ll hear quite soon about other players joining .. the season is just over a month away.
