Aston Villa at Liverpool: Updates, team news and Red banter

Everyone knows a joke about Liverpool, but I wont start because they're doing well and they'll probably beat us today and there is nothing worse than a scouser coming on here later picking on every single word and phrase to prove they were right.

And I've said it; they'll probably win. I'll even go so far as to say that if they don't spank us by four, they'll not finish in the top four this season. Four is an important number today.

And even though football is about winning stuff and a scouser or two will come on later and mention all the silverware they've won, or probably not now, finishing in the top four is a very close second these days. It takes you a step closer.

And you need to finish in the top four to keep your better players and to get better players. And while it doesn't all come down to today, I'm not convinced Liverpool are capable.

And when you boil it all down, if they finish fifth or sixth and we finish twelfth; is there any real difference?

And before we get to the usual, if you haven't read this post on This Is Anfield, go read it, it's lovely. It basically sums us up. It's not perfect, but it's very good and now, it's not just our supporters that know, it's other teams supporters; we're long ball and we love it.

And if you remember, we had a pretty good start to the season but it was Liverpool that contained us and Liverpool that didn't come to Villa Park and just have a go at us. They knew what they were doing back then and they'll do the same again today.

But they might also have too much confidence. You couldn't blame a side for thinking they'll beat us, so if we get lucky and Liverpool do come at us for 90 minutes, it could be an interesting game.

Defensively, we're very good away from Villa Park so you never know. A little bit of luck goes a long way away from Villa Park.

Updates, team news and more links

So, with us playing last today, I'm going to take a couple of hours off before getting back to work but we'll have team news later and for the 3pm games, I'll be here and no doubt one or two of you will be.

You also know my prediction. My heart says we could get something, maybe a point, but my head is telling me that Liverpool will win this.

And it's not as if we're going through the motions today. We might see something new today. We might.
