Aston Villa v Norwich: Updates, Darren Bent, we'll win today and football odds

A big game today. Aston Villa play the side managed by Chris Hughton, not exactly a manager famed for his Premier League experience and our current managers former club.

Three points will see us move ahead of them and anything else simply wont be good enough. A big game, because just like last week, we could find ourselves in a horrible place by the end of business on Sunday.

But, we're quite fortunate. QPR have to play at Arsenal, Southampton have Spurs to deal with and Reading haven't won at home all season. But again, how horrible is that, taking the form of teams below us as a guide for how we might feel come 3pm.

We'll win today

But it doesn't matter, because we are going to win today. I know this for so many reasons, but none are footballing reasons. I know it because we've won, drawn and lost at Villa Park this season and because we've only won once in eight games, we are due a win.

It's blind hope or optimism, but we are due a win and what better side to play than a side fancied to go down this season managed last season by our current manager and currently managed by someone that couldn't get his side promoted last season?

Odds

In other news, before the match

Darren Bent has apparently got a new girlfriend that he is going to marry. Her name is Kirsty Maclaren and apparently she was eight days away from marrying Liam Ridgwell and has two kids from two different fathers. I'm not saying anything.

I write about this because in the same newspaper story it is claimed again that he wants to leave Aston Villa. I know, it's The Sun, so I take it with a pinch of salt, but I've got a feeling he will be gone soon enough and nobody can say he isn't a quality striker, the best we have and we're just forcing him out.

To the match

But none of that matters for 90 minutes today and because it is the early kick off, it means we have the whole weekend to deal with after, which is a nice change. Me, I've got big plans, but they'll all be written off if we don't win, I just know it.
