Aston Villa put four past Blackburn

I wanted a good performance today, for my sanity more than anything and guess what, I got it. I got a solid team performance and two man of the match performances, maybe more.

You see, Ashley Young scored two, Marc Albrighton had a shot stroke cross put in for an own goal and Stewart Downing got one too. Blackburn got one back at 3-0 down, but it was a consolation. More so when the fourth went in a moment later.

But things didn't start very well and the first half was awful, but I'm putting that down to the five men in the Blackburn midfield and them coming to make it difficult.

In the second, we approached the game a little differently and it worked and when we went 1-0 up, courtesy of a penalty converted by Young, things started to open up.

And when the game opened up, we seemed to move forward with purpose and we took our chances. Had we played a team for ninety minutes that came at us, we might have scored more today, but we will never know.

More on the match and the performance on Monday. I'm off to celebrate. Very good result. Very good.
