Can we do that every week? Stoke 1 Aston Villa 3

This was a huge game and in the first half we did everything right. In the second, it was so very nearly the perfect example of why our season has been so poor. That was until Matthew Lowton chested the ball down and scored what I'm sure will be a contender for goal of the month, if not season.

I can't put a video of it up yet, but if you haven't seen it, you must watch Match of the Day tonight, it was just sublime. But take nothing away from the rest of the team, we are playing much better football and Gabby and Benteke also scored today.

We were leading with ten minutes to go after going one up in the first half against a Stoke side that didn't look like they cared. They did in the second and that was when we sat back more than we had in the first.

And when they scored with ten to do, you could have been forgiven for thinking that was it. But we had a rare corner with three minutes to go and Lowton just did what many of us dream of; the perfect goal.

Stoke didn't give up though and they went looking, but all that meant was when Benteke picked up the ball on the half way line and danced past the last defender, he could run to goal and beat the keeper from inside the box to wrap up the three points.

The game was over then and that is how it ended. We move up to 16th place, ahead of Sunderland and Wigan who both play tomorrow and unless something strange happens, we should remain out of the bottom three after this weekend.

I'm going to eat and drink and be merry. It was a fantastic result and a wonderful wonderful goal from Lowton.
