Win something, it's football first at Southampton and little to write about

I think that has been the longest period without a post so to say sorry, there is also a competition below that one of you will win. But I'm also going to explain why there was a break and you all know this already, but the joy has been sucked out of it.

There are headlines that will wake me up; Lerner sells or Lambert sacked. Anything other than that at the moment means we're treading water. But I'm still hoping for the change and impetus that the Tom Fox video promised. And I believe it will come.

But while Lambert is in charge, I'm at the point where I don't think it's possible without a huge amount of cash and even then, it would only be Lambert getting a go, not me thinking he is the right man.

Little to write about then

And even when I search the internet for Aston Villa news or opinion, there really is very little. It seems that those writing are writing for the sake of writing and everything else is just content we don't want to see or we've already seen. It's actually quite depressing at the moment.

But I've also been busy, so I might have missed something but when I visit the BBC page for Aston Villa, all I have is a story about David James. Nothing about Lerner or Lambert.

And we've got Southampton next

It's tricky to write about Southampton as this is the third manager they've had in two seasons and each of them has done well. I'm inclined to believe it's not all about the manager but something in the water.

This weekend is going to be tough to watch and our match on Monday could be very important. More on that later in the week though. Now it's time to win something.

Competition: Win a Savile Rogue scarf

Savile Rogue, purveyors of the world’s finest football scarves, have just launched their new Faithful scarf and if like me you're a fan of these scarves, you'll know they are the best football scarf.

And they’re marking the occasion by giving us one to give away. But if you’re not familiar with them, Savile Rogue scarves give a nod to football terraces of yesteryear, shunning in-your-face logos and cheap nylon in favour of a traditional bar design and the comfort, quality and warmth of top quality materials.

To get your hands on one all you have to do is guess the attendance of all matches on Saturday and Sunday in the Premier League this weekend. Whoever is closest wins and you'll be told on Monday if you have or haven't. I know it's a stab in the dark, but sometimes, the best things are. Ahem. You can have one guess, closest gets it and just in case two of you are equally as close, it will be the person that put the guess in first. Good luck.

You can follow Savile Rogue on Twitter or Facebook and don't forget to say hi.
